Work Again

One of the people at work spent two hours explaining to us what they do here--so now I have a much better idea of that--and of what the organization of the total Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement looks like. And she did the best thing of all--gave us swag! Now I've got a t-shirt, hat, and pin from the Centre for the Cooperation in the Mediterranean. Yipee! Oh, and I've also got a Dream Careers T-shirt, so basically my free t-shirt supply is not hurting, even in Spain.

They still don't seem to have much for us to do, but at least now I know more about what they do. And the fact that all their funding has been cut because they're way less important than the actual activities of the Red Cross. Oh, and one of the Italian people is here because he's actually funded by the Italian Red Cross. Like they pay for his position and therefore fill it with an Italian. Our boss's job is funded by the Spanish Red Cross, and then the other two people are the Cataluña Red Cross. And other Mediterranean Red Cross organizations pay for different things, like the electricity and rent and the conferences they hold. So we aren't exactly working for the Spanish Red Cross, but for the Spanish Red Cross, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the Italian Red Cross, the French Red Cross, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and twenty others (by the way, Arab countries use the Red Crescent because they don't like the idea of a cross. They don't want to let in other symbols because they think it'll get confusing, but Muslims asked first. Other countries, like Israel, use other symbols within their own borders though).

And I'm going to Dublin in less than two weeks! For four days!! Yay! I don't really have any other details though about that yet though.
